Four years ago, getting cast on “Desperate Housewives” was a dream come true for Eva Longoria Parker, who is now paying it forward by making a wish come true for one of her young fans.
The beneficiary of Eva’s kindness is 12-year-old Dominique, who was flown all the way from Switzerland to meet with her idol by Reves, an organization that makes wishes come true for seriously ill children.
ET’s Steven Cojocaru joined the two ladies to find out why Eva and “Desperate Housewives” means so much to Dominique, who shared that the show was a welcome break during her six-month hospital stay and eight months of chemotherapy.
“Eva is amazing,” Dominique gushes to Cojo. “['Desperate Housewives'] made me laugh and it made me happy.”
The friendship between the two began when Dominique sent Eva a tape. Eva recalls, “She sent me the most beautiful DVD. She filmed herself in her home and where she is from. She showed me pictures of her life. I was so touched and blown away that she would spend all this time to put this video together. She was going to come and visit us last year, but she wasn’t feeling up to it, so I sent her a tape, ‘A Day on the Set with Eva.’ It showed her via video showing her the entire Wisteria Lane, so she felt like she was here.“
These days Dominique says she is feeling “very well,” but is very excited to get her very own real-life tour of Wisteria Lane.
“To hear the effect that it had on you just touches me in such a way. I can’t explain,” Cojo tells Eva — and then they take Dominique on the tour of a lifetime.
“This is what it is all about,” Eva says. “Using your fame and your platform for greater causes than yourself.”

Eva Longoria Parker gets to play dress-up at the Cannes Film Festival — and she doesn’t even have to pack her own suitcase. Longoria Parker, who is hitting the red carpet for L’Oreal, is having a Versace moment at Cannes. But when she’s at home with her husband, San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, she’s hardly a fashion diva.
• Quotes / Interview:
“My bag is packed when I come because my stylist thinks about every event we have, every interview, every red carpet __ everything is already planned and dresses are fitted, and I just put on what somebody gives me” - the 33-year-old actress told Associated Press Television.
“I actually put on what’s clean,” she said Thursday. “Usually I’m in sweats or jeans. Tony’s favorite outfit is me in jeans and a T-shirt.“

Not one for modesty, Eva Longoria never passes up an opportunity to turn heads. The stunning actress quite literally showed off her plumage on a night out in Cannes yesterday as she sported a unique peacock-style dress. Onlookers would be forgiven for thinking Eva was donning an actual bird as the extraordinarily detailed green feathered dress was embroidered with a series of eyes, much like those seen when a peacock’s tail is fanned.
Once bullied for being unattractive, 33-year-old Eva’s transformation from ugly duckling to swan appears complete. She was pictured earlier at the film festival in a long white swan-like silk organza dress for the premiere of Kung Fu Panda - looking every inch the Hollywood star.
Eva wouldn’t have looked out of place on the set of Swan Lake and appeared to have chosen birds as her theme for the night. Perhaps she has been taking style tips from new celebrity pal Victoria Beckham. The Spice Girl was pictured sporting a red dress not dissimilar to Sesame Street’s Big Bird last October and seems to have started a trend.
Eva admitted, as the youngest of four daughters, born to Mexican Catholics in Texas, her sisters drove her to tears, calling her “la prieta fea” (the ugly dark one).
She said: “Of course when you’re a kid, you’re so sensitive to everything. You cry. They were very pretty, light-skinned, I was very dark, scrawny and the only one in my family with black hair. I hated it (…) Today I don’t think I’m ugly anymore. I think I’m pretty average looking (…) It wasn’t until college that I noticed people paying me more attention and I realised I had the potential to be beautiful - not that I was, but I realised that if I wore make-up or dressed nicely I had the potential.”

Eva Longoria has vowed to learn French by the end of the year. The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star wants to be able to converse with her basketball husband Tony Parker in his native language. She said:
“I’ve sworn to myself that I’m going to be able to speak passable French this year. I should be working on it right now, to tell you the truth, but I’m having fun being relaxed and laid-back and I don’t want to get stressed out (…) But at some point this year, I’m going to take serious French lessons because I want to be able to understand Tony when he speaks French with his family and friends. Even though Tony always serves as a translator for me, I feel a bit isolated from his family and I want to overcome that and feel closer to them by learning the language.“
Eva also said she wants her children to be trilingual - fluent in French, Spanish and English. She added:
“Tony and I want to make sure that our children grow up both in America and in France and that they will be trilingual. Tony will speak to our kids in French and I will teach them Spanish and of course, we would also both speak to them in English.“
